Why does Trader Joe's hummus suck ass?
Really, i want to know. It's so weird because you'd expect them to make a decent hummus. How hard is it really?
Madison got a TJ's recently and it's really close to my house, which is cool. And i like lots of their stuff and their prices are good (cheap organic fruit, whole wheat tortillas, etc.), which is all cool. But what the hell is up with their hummus? I lived in soCal from most of the time between '97 and '04 and was well-acquainted with their products. At the time they sold a few different types of hummus. I tried them all at one point or another, always thinking that the next one would be good... but was always dissapointed. So i hadn't been to TJ's in a few years and i thought, surely they've figured out the secret to making decent hummus by now, right? Wrong. They had a new variety: organic. I tried it. It was terrible. It had the consistency of a fluffy egg salad. It even kinda tasted like egg salad. WTFJ?

So after typing this, a made my own hummus for the first time in years. I did it with a recently acquired food processor. And guess what the consistency was like... fluffy egg salad. Oh the irony! It fortunately did not taste like egg salad. Nonetheless, i need to experiment a bit more with different recipes. Probably a little oil will get me closer to what i prefer.
